Director of Finance and Corporate Controller, Melton Truck Lines, Inc. & NAFC Chair
Melissa Ruby is the Director of Finance and Corporate Controller for Melton Trucks Lines and serves as a corporate officer.
Melissa joined Melton in 2010 as their controller and has forged a new role in her organization while continually growing efficiency and effectiveness.
Spearheading all things accounting, Melissa manages relationships with lenders and financial compliance reporting. She works closely with external auditors, oversees all financial reporting, tax compliance, streamlining of processes, and internal control optimization. Expanding into a strategic role, Melissa has aided the company’s transition into an employee-owned ESOP company. She has implemented fair market value accounting in existing companies and is experienced with syndicated debt, managing equipment lending, and conducting a quality of earnings study. Melissa is passionate about developing people in her organization to be the next generation of leaders and empowering them to be effective in their jobs.
Prior to joining Melton, she was a CPA for 10 years in Oklahoma and Arkansas for large regional and national firms in both audit and tax. She also has a broad knowledge of real estate financing and investments. Melissa holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication from Northeastern State University as a foundation scholar, a Magna cum laude graduate from Langston University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and a Summa cum laude Master of Business Administration graduate from the University of Tulsa. She is a member of Beta Alpha Psi and Beta Gamma Sigma. Melissa serves on the Board of the American Trucking Associations’, National Accounting & Finance Council, and is currently serving a two-year term (2024-26) as Chair.
